LABYRINTH FOR BREC'S CITY PARK
2/1/08
The concrete pad has been laid for a brick Genainville Labyrinth behind
City Park's Baton Rouge Gallery, and pictures of BREC's progress are
being posted below. The labyrinth will be constructed of brick pavers
and features the same walking pattern as the labyrinth found in Chartres
Cathedral, but octagonal and with four bastions. Found etched
in a stone in a small church in Genainville, France, this labyrinth
design has never been built before and is believed to date from the
14th century.
The ground is leveled and the cement base is poured. A layer of asphalt
will be spread over the top to seal the surface.

Measuring: The brick layers use string to designate the measurements
out from the center, and gray bricks to mark the turns.

February 6, 2008, First Day of brick laying. The first bastion is laid
in.
